We love your wording of the “green beauty space” want to expand on that?

Well, I’m actually hoping to see a shift in the green beauty space to show more real life authenticity, and less products and marketing that make people feel not good enough if they don’t get the latest $200 face serum.  It’s easy to get lost in all of that but I’ve learned to tune that part out so that it can become space where I can connect with like-minded women and share knowledge and ideas as well as discuss real life topics that go beyond surface beauty.  I don’t like being confined to just talking about lipstick and mascara.  Life is so much more than makeup and skincare.  I feel pretty good about those who I choose to connect with and am confident that we are building an inclusive space where our voices are heard, where women feel empowered, where collaboration over competition is rooted, and a space to create lasting friendship.

What made you get into blogging?

I actually consider myself to be more of a storyteller rather than a blogger. I’ve always had this urge to write about my experiences but was always afraid to put myself out there or share too much.  But what really gave me the push (or who I should say) was a complete stranger (at the time).  I posted something on instagram a couple of years ago about soul searching and someone on the other side of the country, messaged me and let me know that it resonated with her and that she was going through the exact same thing and wanted to know how I was able to get through it.  We became pen pals ever since and the idea that I could connect with others and have an effect on just one person was such an amazing feeling. The ultimate reward is being able to connect with so many amazing strong women who have their own experiences and stories to tell.

What do you hope readers take away from your blog?

I think as humans, especially as women, we can learn so much from each other’s experiences.  To know that your’e not alone and that there are others out there who understand and can relate is truly a powerful thing, There’s so much negativity in the world around us and I hope to inspire as many people as possible to just simply show up for themselves every single day.  Life is not perfect but we have more control over it than we choose to believe sometimes. So many of us are guilty in seeking outside validation just to feel any ounce of worth or happiness and I want people to know that it all starts within. We can’t spread the love if we don’t feel in within ourselves.

How do live a green life?

I don’t consider myself to be a purist but I try live in a way that works for me which being conscious as best as I can when it comes to lifestyle.  Opting for cleaner sustainable products, eliminating plastic when I can, eating whole foods that are nourishing for my body, recycling, reusing, repurposing-all without feeling guilty if I’m not committed 24/7.  Everything in life is constant balance and the best we can do is put forth a good effort so I don’t get down on myself if I need to use a plastic straw sometimes. Although, I did just buy some stainless steel ones!

Some challenges you’ve overcome in the green industry?

I would say the biggest challenge is staying authentic and true to who I am in an industry that just keeps throwing product after product at you whether it’s from brands or influencers.  The industry is over saturated with both so it’s all about doing your own research and being empowered to make your own decisions that align with who you are as opposed to doing or buying something just because its trendy.
